The Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros begin a three game set here tonight. The Mariners are coming off a 3-game set at home vs Atlanta where they took two of three games. The Mariners have taken over 1st place in the AL West thanks in part to a 7-3 record their last 10 games. They lead the Texas Rangers by a half game. They also have a +9 run differential. George Kirby will make the start for the M's today. Kirby is 3-2 in his six starts with a 4.17 ERA. Kirby has been hot of late, allowing NO Runs and seven hits over his last 12 innings and just two runs and 12 hits over his last 18 innings of work. In addition, he has 25 KO's and just two walks during those 18 innings. The Houston Astros have finally started winning some games. After a horrible start, the Astros have won four of their last five games. They are still tied for last in the AL West with a 11-20 record, but just six back of the Mariners. They also still are in the red with run differential at -16. Ronel Blanco will toe the rubber today for the Astros. Blanco is 3-0 in his five starts with a 1.65 ERA and 0.918 WHIP. Blanco has not allowed more than two runs in any of his five starts thus far. I like this game to go under today as both pitchers have been very good of late. Play UNDER. |
